Cheryl Lindsay, Author

Cheryl is a dedicated mother, grandmother, and former college administrator who spent decades supporting young people as they navigated the transition into adulthood. In her professional and personal life, she witnessed first-hand how challenging it can be for youth to develop and maintain key life skills—health, time management, and financial responsibility—just as they are stepping out into the world.

Motivated by a deep desire to lay the foundation for these very skills, Cheryl began writing children’s stories when her grandchildren were very young. She envisioned books that would not only entertain but also empower children and families to launch a successful journey into independence—with kindness, confidence, and resilience.

For Cheryl, representation matters. As the mother of a child who was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate, she knows how painful it can be when children (and adults) face facial differences, and the emotional toll it can exact. In collaboration with illustrator Erin Sherman, she created the Treasured Tales of Evan and Bella series with a clear intention: to depict physical diversity and celebrate asymmetrical beauty, so that every child can see themselves—and feel seen.

Originally written for young readers, the series has resonated across ages. Feedback has shown that even older children and young adults connect with the themes of self-acceptance, growth, and possibility that Cheryl weaves into her stories.

Cheryl lives in NH and continues to write thoughtfully, believing that storytelling is one of the most joyful and effective ways to help children—and families—grow, heal, and flourish.

Guided reading is recommended for the young. Cheryl welcomes you – the reader – to share feedback on the matter.
